Religion and Belief

Religion and Belief Quiz

Coventry has a rich mix of people from different faiths. Religion is a key part of life for many of them. Christians make up 65.3% of Coventry’s population, followed by Sikhs, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Jews. Just over 15% do not identify with any religion.

Understanding

The city has a tradition of working towards reconciliation and peaceful co-existence. Understanding the differences between the religious practices and beliefs of the local communities will benefit employers and employees, enabling them to offer appropriate and sensitive services and discourage discrimination, exclusion and marginalisation.

Practices

Religious and cultural practices can vary, even within the same faith, between individuals, generations, groups and communities. Download the full chapter for an introduction to worship and prayer, holy days and festivals associated with Coventry’s different faiths.
