Residents have worked hard to establish the city’s reputation for peace-making, reconciliation and tolerance. We are proud of this heritage and the city’s future depends on both established and new communities.

At the beginning of the 21st century, 84% of Coventry’s population are White, including White Irish (3.5%). One in seven people, 16%, are from Black and minority ethnic groups including Asian, Black, Mixed White, Chinese and other ethnic groups.

New settlers

New communities have settled in Coventry in the last five years, including Somalian, Kurdish, Afghanistani and Bosnian groups.
