There is much to celebrate in the skills and experience of Coventry’s older population. People now have the chance to lead longer, more active and healthier lives.
Younger
By 2010 almost 40% of the national workforce will be aged 45 or over. But while Coventry’s population is younger than that of the region and country as a whole, both its younger and older residents are a rich resource upon which to draw.
Positive
Businesses that are positive about age report: improved staff retention rates; higher staff morale; higher productivity; and a better public image.
Barriers
But for the very old, there may be barriers that stop them from taking part in the rich life that Coventry has to offer. Their access to goods, service and activities may be limited by money, ill health, lack of transport or age discrimination.
